Palacio Belmonte is one of Christian Louboutin's favourite luxury hotels in the world. This Chic Retreat is one of Lisbon's best-kept boutique hotel secrets surrounded by medieval streets located on the edge of the Castelo São Jorge district. Palacio Belmonte is an historic and wonderfully luxurious boutique hotel that was built on both Roman and Moorish fortifications. With 11 stunning suites and a beautiful black slate swimming pool, Palacio Belmonte was named one of the "coolest 21 hotels in the world" by Condé Nast Traveler. Guests have been known to arrive and depart without having left this magical place.
This small luxury hotel is the oldest building of its kind in the city, residence of the Earls of Belmonte for over 500 years. Antiques and oil paintings from the 15th to 18th century blend together with African and Japanese artefacts, amidst ultra-modern sculptures and contemporary furniture which reflect the taste and vision of the Palacio's owners. Palacio Belmonte lies at the top of one of Lisbon's seven hills, tucked inside the ramparts of the Castelo de São Jorge, behind plum-red portals in a narrow cobbled passage. After extensive renovation the result is a peaceful, authentic & luxurious hotel with terraces of stunning views, sitting rooms, libraries and an organic garden. While receiving the highest level of service, guests will be emerged in the palacio's philosophy of well being, exclusivity, simplicity, natural comfort & intimacy.
Accommodation
Painstakingly restored by French owner Frederic Coustols, the 11 suites contain remnants of Roman towers and regional blue-and-white tiles; some have terraces with views over the city to the river. Many of the rooms have en-suite verandas looking out over the River Tagus and the hotel's pool. The ceilings of the suites are 17th-century and one suite uses the staircase of a Moorish Tower.
The suites range in size from 29 sq metres to more than 162 sq metres and many enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets with unique views of the old quarter of Lisbon. All provide the perfect level of understated luxury decorated with silks and each suite is named after a Portuguese writer, artist, philosopher, traveller, inventor or ecologist.

"One of the most beautiful suites in the world" (Condé Nast), your attention will be caught by stunning views, tiled rooms, frescos, fabulous terraces, libraries, a black marble infinity pool and the organic Mediterranean garden that overlooks the city and the Tagus river. The Palacio provides a secluded base from which to explore the city of Lisbon, its architecture and its vibrant cultural life.
Rates
Rates at Palacio Belmonte are per suite per night and include a welcome drink, organic breakfast, all taxes and service. Guests at Palacio Belmonte are entitled to VIP treatment on arrival and the courtesy bar is always available. In some suites a transfer from/to the airport with a private chauffeur is offered.
S. Valentin and Easter an additional cost of 100€ per night. Christmas/New Year’s Eve an additional cost of 200€ per night (December 22nd to January 4th).
Each extra bed has a cost of 100 Euro and each Belmonte organic breakfast a cost of 30 Euro. (Note: Please note that the decoration of the suite won't be quite the same when an extra bed is added).
Children Policy
- From 0 to 3 years old – cot beds and breakfast are free of charge
- From 4 to 14 years old –50% of the extra bed when sharing parents room and 50% of breakfast
- Over 15 years old – 100% of the extra bed when sharing parents room and 100% of breakfast.

Cancellation policy
Credit card is required to guarantee your reservation (number, expiring date and security code). A non-refundable one night deposit will be charged at the time of booking. Please cancel by 12noon (local time) 15 days prior to arrival, in order to avoid cancellation fee of full stay amount. More than 15 days cancellation notice, just the one night reservation deposit will be charged.
