About this Chic Retreat

Not only do we love these photos, but they represent the true and real image of The Majlis and what guests will experience during their stay on the Lamu Archipelago. This small luxury beach hotel faces Lamu island and is just 15 minute boat transfer (complimentary) from the Manda Island airstrip and 10 minutes from Lamu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Majlis is privately owned (the best boutique hotels generally are) with 25 beautiful rooms and suites with lovely sea views. As the name suggests in Arabic The Majlis is a special place where the hosts entertain and look after VIPs in utmost style and comfort.
Accommodation
The Majlis is a beachside paradise for grown ups and children alike. The 25 air-conditioned rooms and suites, all with sea views, are superbly appointed and are decorated in a style that compliments the surrounding natural beauty. The Superior and Deluxe rooms, Junior and Royal suites are divided into 3 villas which open directly onto the white sandy beach. The rooms are spacious with traditionally high, beamed ceilings and terraces with stunning views of the beach and enticing Indian Ocean. Each villa has been intricately placed among the indigenous trees and plants, to preserve the beauty of the surrounding vegetation. The suites are larger and have a generous en-suite bathroom and private veranda. WiFi is available.
Activities
Guests can fill their day from morning until night with the activities on offer at The Majlis. Visits to Lamu Town, dhow sailing trips, windsurfing, diving, snorkelling, water skiing and fishing are all available directly on Shela beach which faces the hotel or the central bay. Most guests find it difficult to drag themselves away from one of the two shaded sea front swimming pools.
Dining
The pool bar serves a variety of refreshing drinks and light snacks throughout the day for those who want to relax and laze by the pool. The Majlis Restaurant serves delicious food including International, Italian (seafood, pasta, traditional wood-fire pizzas and home-made ice cream) as well as sushi, sashimi, and tempura. The Restaurant features an open-plan veranda on the ground floor and terrace/bar on the first floor, offering far reaching views over the Ras Kitau bay. The restaurant has become one of the best in the Lamu Archipelago.
Rates
Rates at The Majlis are per room per night on a full board basis and include VAT and service charges. The rates also include Manda airport transfers, bottle water, windsurfing and kayaking. Internet, tips and all drinks and laundry are not included. Children under 2 years old are free. An extra bed for a child over 2 years old is EUR 140 per night. No single room supplement. Children from 5-14 years sharing with two adults are charged at 50%. During Christmas and New Year, 21st December to 5th January, there is a minimum 05 night stay required.

Cancellation policy
- 20% deposit needed to confirm booking
- Full balance is required 45 minutes before arrival
- 120-45 days before arrival - deposit is forfeited
- 44-30 days before arrival - 30% of the invoice payable
- Less than 30 days before arrival - full amount of booking payable
