About this Chic Retreat

Laguna Lodge is a magical place that dreams are made of. Surrounded by a 100-acre nature reserve this luxury eco-lodge sits on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Laguna Lodge is made from indigenous materials; adobe, volcanic stone and wood, creating a rustic but luxurious chic retreat where guests will enjoy an authentic experience.

Time magazine described Laguna Lodge as "pure Maya magic".

Accommodation

The 6 spacious palm thatched pavilions have large balconies with panoramic views stretching across the lake and volcanoes beyond. King-size beds, beautiful bed linen and local textiles are used in all of the suites. The bathrooms are made of green marble with double basins and natural botanical products. Modern-day technology has made it possible for WIFI to be available throughout Laguna Lodge.

Activities

The spa pool is hidden in the gardens and there is also a lakeside sauna and sunbathing deck. A wide variety of treatments are available including Reflexology, Thai Massage and Hot Stone therapy. Mayan trails and ceremonial rocks can be found around the lodge, and after rain you can sometimes be lucky enough to find pieces of ancient flint. Kayaks and canoes are the perfect way to explore the lake and there are some rock cliffs for climbing or cliff jumping for the brave! There is nothing quite like swimming in the lake's clear waters.

Mayan guides can take you on a tour of the Nature Reserve and explain the ancient medicinal & domestic use of the plants and an interpretation room may be visited before embarking on the trails.

Dining

Zotz Restaurant sits on the shores of the lake serving seasonal eco-cuisine, full of flavour. Organic vegetables, salads and herbs come from Laguna Lodge's own gardens and wherever possible other ingredients are locally sourced. The organic coffee comes from the nature reserve and is some of the most delicious and fragrant coffee you will taste.

The Lava Bar has a fine international selection of wine, beer & spirits. Try the Molten Lava cocktail made with white rum, organic carrot and apple juice while relaxing in the lakeside sunset bungalow.

Rates at Laguna Lodge are per room per night including breakfast, but excluding 22% government tax and service.

  • Neareast Airport: Guatemala City.
  • Distance from Airport: 3 hours.
  • Additional Info: Boats leave regularly for San Pedro or Santa Cruz and pass the private dock of Laguna Lodge and Laguna Nature Reserve. The boats stop at the dock when asked and regularly travel back and forth.
