About this Chic Retreat
Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Lodge is a luxury safari lodge on the 63,000-hectare Sabi Sand Private Game Lodge situated in the Kruger National Park. Named after the old giraffe bull who lived alongside the Brink family in this lakeside retreat, the building blends wonderfully with the surroundings, with an elegant mix of luxury styling and a raw, natural feel that make this lodge truly unique. Beautiful fabrics in a natural palette are complimented by artworks by Maria Brink and fine fabrics, antique furnishings, contemporary pieces and beautiful stonework creates a refined finish.
Private plunge pools and decking and spacious living areas make the 10 rooms the ultimate in luxury, while guests can also choose to stay in the Chitwa House which has its own private butler and dedicated ranger and a beautiful network of indoor pools creating a peaceful ambience for those returning from a day's game drive. Sat on the edge of the largest lake in the Sabi Sands reserve, guests can even view game from the main lounge and dining areas as well as the spacious sunset deck where you can spot the Big Five along with other species, all from the comfort of the rim-flow swimming pool and daybeds. Perfect for honeymooners and weddings the lodge is also great for children, with specially arranged activities to introduce kids to the wildlife and stories of the African Bush. Highly qualified guides and trackers will ensure your safaris are unforgettable and the attentive and welcoming staff will make sure you have a relaxing evening on your return.
Accommodation
There are 10 luxury suites (within 8 units) at Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Lodge, each wonderfully-appointed with a mix of contemporary furnishings and a wonderful use of natural materials, from the modern-style bathrooms complete with 2-person tubs and stone fireplaces in the spacious living rooms to the thatched roofs and twisting wooden tree trunks integrated into the design. Each suite leads onto a wooden terrace with private plunge pool, dining area and beach chairs from which to admire the views of the nearby lake, a well-populated water hole. Each bedroom has a spacious king-size canopy bed fitted with luxurious linens and plump pillows and the open-plan living room has plenty of seating. For those who want even more privacy and personal service, choose the Chitwa House a beautiful hideaway with a lounge and dining room opening onto a pretty plunge pool and an open fire by the grand four-poster bed. Guests of Chitwa House have their own personal butler to see to their ever need.
Activities
Wake up to coffee at the lodge before departing on your first game drive with Chitwa Chitwa's expert team of guides where you can spot many of the Big Five: buffalos, lions, elephants, rhinos and leopards along with a variety of other fascinating animals. Bush walks and safaris run throughout the day, with specialised trips for children in the Chitwa Children Eco-experience. Kids can enjoy a lesson in basic bush skills, a face painting session, mould-making of animal tracks and evenings by the fire toasting marshmellows and hearing the intokoto's folk tales. Chitwa Chitwa also has strong ties with the nearby Dixie village and guests are invited to visit the village for the day.
After a day exploring the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, guests can return to a welcome massage or view the wildlife from the sunset deck with its infinity-edge swimming pool. The library has a great selection of books and internet access, while you can pick up some souvenirs in the Curio Shop which has hand-made African crafts and traditional bush-wear. If you are coming for a special occasion, your hosts can arrange a variety of romantic and special activities, from a hot-air balloon ride to a private dinner in an African river bed and they have a wonderful team of planners for that extra special wedding or honeymoon.
Rates
Rates at Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Reserve are per room per night and are all inclusive with VAT, luxury accommodation - all meals - teas, coffees, soft drinks & bottled water - two open vehicle safaris a day - daily walking safaris - laundry service - return transfer from the Chitwa airstrip to the lodge. The rate is inclusive a of ZAR 50.00 per person per night contribution to the Chitwa Trust Fund for our community upliftment projects.
The Chitwa House rate includes private vehicle and guide, private dining and meals, all drinks excepting imported wines and champagne, 4 complimentary Chitwa activities per stay.
In addition, Dixie Shangaan Village tour is ZAR 400 per person. Reservations are to be pre-paid 30 days prior to arrival.
Children who have not yet turned 3 by the date of arrival stay free of charge. From the age of 3-6, children will be charged 25%. Children aged 6-12 will be charged 50%. Children aged 12 years and older sharing with adults will be charged full adult rate. Children under 6 will not be allowed on game drives unless parents have the sole use of the vehicle. Vehicle exclusivity must be pre-booked.

Cancellation policy
25% of booking value charged if cancellation is 45 to 31 days prior to arrival. 50% of booking value charged if cancellation is 30 to 15 days prior to arrival. 100% of booking value charged if cancellations is 14 days or less prior to arrival. All reservations, amendments or cancellations are valid only if advised and accepted in writing.

BY AIR: The lodge is easily accessible by air from Oliver Tambo inJohannesburg with a flying time of approximately 1 and a half hours. Direct connecting flights are also available from Kruger Internationalwhich take just over half an hour and from Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit with 25 minutes flying time.

BY ROAD: The road transfer from Johannesburg to Chitwa Chitwatakes approximately 5 hours. The lodge is situated in the northernarea of the Sabi Sand and access if via Gowrie Gate, near the OrpenGate of the Kruger National Park.
