Villa Afrikana is a small boutique hotel in Knysna on the Western Cape. If you are in any doubt as to why this pretty location has been named Paradise - all will become apparent with the magnificent vista that greets you on arrival. Each of the 6 rooms in this stylish contemporary hideaway offer views over the Knysna Heads and lagoon and are amongst the most spacious suites to be found along the Garden Route. The sleek modern interiors, decorated in a minimal white-on-white style have eye-catching artworks by local artist Neil Nieuwoudt and everything has been designed with luxury and comfort in mind. Outside, guests can relax by the pretty outdoor pool after a day out exploring. Knysna itself is one of South Africa's hottest destinations with beautiful surroundings, a wide variety of flora & fauna, stunning coastline and some great local restaurants.

Accommodation

There are 6 spacious suites at Villa Afrikana, each with large windows opening out to the stunning view. Each suite has a sleek, modern design, decorated with paintings, sculptures and pottery by local artists. The large and luxurious en-suite bathrooms feature under-floor heating, baths or showers and double washbasins and all come with luxurious bath products, towels, bathrobes & slippers.The Gouna Suite's bathroom has a particularly romantic free-standing bath which overlooks the lagoon. The queen or king-size double beds are fitted with feather & down duvets and pillow and each room has a TV with DVD player, coffee & tea making facilities and WiFi. Some of the rooms also have further luxury additions such as hydro massage tubs or private balconies or terraces.

Spitskop Suite: The Spitskop Suite is situated on the second and top floor with its own private with magnificent views of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon. Noetzie Suite: The Noetzie Suite is situated on the second and top floor with its own private balcony with lovely views of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon. Materolli Suite: The Materolli Suite is situated on the first floor with wall to wall panoramic windows from which to enjoy magnificent views of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon. Gouna Suite: The Gouna Suite is situated on the first floor with its own private balcony and the bathroom features a fitted with a free-standing bath overlooking the Lagoon. Owner's Suite: The Owner’s Suite is situated on the first floor with its own private balcony with gorgeous views of the Lagoon and the Knysna Heads. Phantom Suite: The Phantom Suite is situated on an elevated floor with its own separate entrance and Veranda from which to enjoy the same wonderful views as the other suites.

Activities

Villa Afrikana has an inviting indoor lounge where guests can relax by the fire with fellow guests, or for a quiet read, head to the library room. Outdoors, the stylish swimming pool is lined by sun loungers and cosy cushioned seating areas so you can relax with a drink in the sun. Knysna is a central stop along the garden route and this stylish villa is the perfect stop off point for those making the trip, although it makes a great destination in itself. Explore the coast and the sandy beaches along the Knysna lagoon by foot, or rent a bicycle to tour the landscape. Golf enthusiasts also flock to the area which was voted the Golf Destination of the Year for Africa and the Middle East 2006-2007. In the town, there are some fantastic markets and arts & crafts shops and there are a great many little cafes & pubs for a lazy day in town. The expert concierge are happy to arrange trips and tours, including boat tours across the lagoon where it meets the Indian Ocean.

Dining

The delicious breakfast is served in your suite or out on the verandah, while light meals and snacks can be ordered throughout the day. Help yourself to drinks at the honesty bar, or head into town to try one of the local bars and pubs. Knysna is renowned for its restaurants and serves great seafood, including the oysters for which the region is famed. For breakfast, there is an a la carte menu with English, Continental and healthy choice options, all served in the comfort of your own suite or in the dining area.

Rates

Rates at Villa Afrikana are per suite per night and include VAT, breakfast, all tea & coffee and WiFi. Suites can also be booked for single occupancy at a reduced rate. Children under 12 years are not accepted, while those over 12 are charged at the adult rate. A 3rd bed can be accommodated in a separate room in the Phantom Suite.
