In the hills behind Cannes, in Mougins, once home to Picasso, you will find Le Manoir de L'Etang. A manor house, built in the 19th-century, it is now a boutique hotel set in 4 hectares of land and overlooks a small lake covered in Lotus flowers.

Accommodation

The 21 bedrooms at this country house hotel are spread across a number of charming buildings. They are a good size and most of them face south with views of hills and the lake. All the rooms are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms. The beds have crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and bathroom linen is of the finest quality. The hotel can provide fitness training, massage and beauty therapy. The emphasis at Le Manoir de L'Etang is on service and the staff make sure each stay is a truly memorable experience..

Activities

As well as a swimming pool, the Manoir de L'Etang has its own extensive gardens which are now being landscaped by designer Stephen Woodhams. For those who like golf, Cannes-Mougins, a European Championship Golf Course, is only a few minutes away. In addition there are almost 10 more golf courses within close proximity. Cannes, with its extensive shopping and great beaches, is only 7 kms away. In the hills nearby there are several picturesque villages such as Mougins, Valbonne and Biot. Yoga retreats are held throughout the year during specified weeks and weekends.

Dining

Il Lago is the Italian restaurant at Le Manoir de L'Etang where you can enjoy both lunch and dinner. Christophe Ferre, the Chef, has composed a comprehensive menu giving guests a wide choice of antipasti dishes, delicious pasta as well as fish from the region. High quality ingredients, sourced from Italy, ensure the authenticity of the cuisine. As well as wines from the region there are plenty of well known Italian wines to choose from.
