About this Chic Retreat

Built at the end of the 18th-century, La Maison du Frene faces the famous 'Ash Tree' of Vence in the South of France and the Pharmacie du Frene, the oldest pharmacy on the French Riviera. The original architecture was preserved during the renovation and this charming art-filled home now welcomes guests all year round.

Accommodation

A stay at La Maison du Frene takes you back to different eras depending on which room you choose; Suite Vallauris takes you back to the 40's and 50's on the French Riviera, Suite Le Chateau takes you away to Provence with views across the hills. For romance there is no better choice than Suite La Chapelle; sitting privately on the top floor with views across the square through beautiful draped curtains this room is perhaps our favourite. Suite Pop-Art is great for lovers of the 60's with pink and blacks and pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol. All suites are on the upper floors and combine different styles of furniture and antiques creating an elegant & sophisticated feel. Each en-suite bathroom features a relaxing rain shower. Free WIFI throughout. A stay at La Maison du Frene is a great introduction to the local culture and artistic talent of the area.

Activities

La Maison du Frene has a very inviting sitting room with soft linen sofas surrounded by beautiful sculptures and modern paintings. This cosy room is full of original art books and books for guests to enjoy. For pampering, there is a 5-star hotel spa open to the public just 5 minutes drive from the house and guests can arrange tennis at the nearby club.

Complimentary tea is served in the afternoon and there are plenty of restaurants, bars & bistros within walking distance. Unlike many other French hotels La Maison du Frene includes a delicious breakfast in the room rate served in the fun pink kitchen - the perfect start to the day!
