As featured in the FT How To Spend It. The owners of this magnificent Houseboat at St Katharine Docks don't do things by halves and this luxurious houseboat is no exception. This glorious Chic Retreat is permanently moored at St Katharine's Docks less than a minute's walk from Tower Bridge in the heart of the city of London. This huge, 42 metre barge, which carried coal on the Seine in the 1920s, has been converted into London's largest and most luxurious houseboat with 3 en-suite double bedrooms, 2 living rooms with stunning views across the Thames, 2 spacious outdoor sitting areas, perfect for al fresco dining. Add a log burner, a cinema room (a nod to the previous owner, a French film producer), a sauna and beautifully chosen antiques and you won't fail to notice that you are staying in one of London’s most extraordinary properties, in one of the city’s best locations. Houseboat at St Katharine Docks is perfect for a mid-week break, Christmas shopping, mother and daughter shopping days, or a relaxing break at the weekend.
Accommodation
The biggest suite on the houseboat is the Normandie Suite which features a super kingsize bed and which comes with 2 en-suite bathrooms and is a massive 60m2 in size. The Cinema Suite which is also a super kingsize includes the home cinema and an en-suite bathroom with sauna. The Americas Cup family suite (kingsize bed) and single room (large single bed) share an en-suite bathroom or the main bedroom can be taken on it's own.
Activities
When you wake up and wander into the vast kitchen area, you could be forgiven for forgetting that you’re on board London’s largest and most luxurious houseboat. Glance out of one of the large portholes or make your way barefoot to breakfast onto the warm wood planks of the massive foredeck and you won't need reminding. Swans and ducks float past on the tranquil waters of London’s historic St. Katharine’s Docks, a peaceful oasis just minutes from Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. Stand still on the deck enjoying the view over this little gem of a marina and you can hear and feel the gentle lapping of the River Thames. What is there not to do and see in London? The Tower of London is 5 minutes walk along the river, the famous Borough Market is 20 minutes walk and the tube is less than a minute away making access to London's sites and sounds incredibly easy.
The Thames Clippers are 10minutes away from the Marina and can take guests every 15/20minutes to central London or to Greenwich in under 30minutes.
Fancy a manicure or pedicure? No problem, owner Florence can organise for a therapist to come on board allowing you to relax in the comfort of your own cabin.
Dining
There are several restaurants, cafes and bars in St Katharine Docks and many city restaurants are within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. Private dinners can be organised outside on the deck by owner Florence and during the summer months there is nothing more lovely than sitting by the water with a cup of coffee. Florence can advise guests on her favourite restaurants and make bookings
Rates
Rates at the Houseboat at St Katharine Docks are per suite per night and include VAT. Extra beds are available. Charge depends on the duration of the booking (free of charge for bookings of more than 1 room/suite and more than 1 night).
This property is not self catering due to the unique features of the boat and it's location. However the owners do try and take one booking at a time only to ensure a totally bespoke and private experience on board.
- full breakfast / brunch can be served up from as early as you wish until 11am and all dietary requirements can be catered for. Guests are guaranteed home made, healthy and organic options.
- smaller bedrooms for up to two children for each Suite will be provided at no extra charge. Breakfast will be included as well.
