About this Chic Retreat

Originally the main bakery of the picturesque village of La Meynardie, Le Petit Fournil has been transformed into a gorgeous one-bedroom cottage, perfect for a romantic break in the Dordogne region. Wonderfully rustic, this charming little cottage is all yours, with reclaimed painted furnishings, pretty floral fabrics and with homely touches throughout. Situated just 1.5 km from the medieval town of Mareuil sur Belle and in the midst of the Perigord Limousin natural park, spend your days exploring the delights of the region, or simply relax by the outdoor pool shared with the owners, and enjoy the views over the countryside.

Accommodation

This beautiful gite has one bedroom, with a romantic rustic feel. Full of provincial charm, original stone work, pretty fabrics, and soft comfortable furnishings make this ideal home away from home for romancing couples. There is a chic wetroom with modern fittings in a simple style and fresh towels are supplied. Also all yours is the open-plan living area complete with a pretty Godin wood burning stove to keep you toasty in the cooler months and you can enjoy the sunshine and country views from the south-facing terrace, or relax from the heat on the shaded terrace at the front.

Activities

The pretty landscape is a wonderful place for long country walks, cycling or horse riding and Le Petit Fournil is ideally located in the Perigord Limousin natural park, one of the finest natural wonders of the fertile Dordogne region. Enjoy French village life in Mareuil-sur-Belle, just 5 minutes drive from the gite, which hosts a colourful market every Tuesday. The medieval delights of Angouleme are within easy reach, 30-minutes drive to the north, perfect for a day of cafe hopping. For shopping and gourmet dining, take a trip to Perigueux, the capital of the Perigord Vert and visit the spectacular Cathedral de St. Front.

Dining

To start you off at Le Petit Fournil, a welcome hamper is prepared, with milk, butter, bread, cheese, jam and a bottle of wine to celebrate your first night in this chic little retreat. Table d'Hôte is available when booked in advance with a regional 3-course country menu including wine, very reasonably priced. For your own cooking needs, the nearby markets are full of mouthwatering local produce from truffles and goats cheese to some wonderful Bergerac wines.

Rates

Rates at Le Petit Fournil are for the entire gite and include electricity, water, logs for the wood burning fire, along with garden maintenance services. Fresh linen, including towels is supplied.

Cancellation policy

Insurance should be taken out to protect against cancellation, which needs to be made in writing. If cancellation is made more than eight weeks before the start of the rental then thedeposit will be forfeited. If a cancellation is made less than eight weeks before the start of therental then the hirer shall be liable for the full balance.
