The Cary Arms, in the glorious seaside town of Babbacombe in Devon, is a charming small boutique hotel sitting along a wide stretch of stunning coastline. Get back to nature along the coastal paths and in the rock pools before coming back to a hearty pub lunch and contemporary beach-style rooms. With just 8 individually styled rooms to choose from, this quaint little bolthole is a great place to take a romantic jaunt in the seaside air of Torquay, or a family trip to explore Devon. Bring along a 4 legged friend and they will receive a warm welcome with their own bed & personlised dog bowl and treat!

Accommodation

The Cary Arms has 8 individually-styled rooms evoking seaside charm with bold stripes, tiled floors, large bay windows and fresh white sheets. Internationally renowned designer, Kathleen Fraser has created a jaunty seaside-chic air in these welcoming rooms with nuances of New England style. Rooms have stunning views of the bay and most have terrace balconies where guests are free to sit out in the fresh sea breeze in their own private space. Beds have Italian bed linen, made-to-order fabrics and large bathrooms with sumptuous Elemis bath products and bathrobes. Most en-suites have both a bath & shower.

The Cary Arms also has 1-4 bedroom self-catering cottages, all with the same fresh design of the inn along with fitted kitchens. Guests are provided with a welcome hamper to start them off and cottages have either an open gas fire or log fire for a cosy night in on a blustery night.

Activities

This lovely beachside retreat is set on ensuring a memorable seaside trip from the off. Children are provided with a bucket, spade and fishing net on arrival and will have plenty to explore along the bay, and a day out fishing can be had by all with fishing rods provided and there is plenty of bass, black bream and mackerel to find. Water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt with diving and RIB riding facilities right by the hotel and windsurfing, waterskiing, kayaking and sailing close to hand. Take a romantic walk along the stunning coastal paths, or explore the surrounding area by horse or bike.

Guests are welcome to play tennis in the nearby courts and the family can take to the 18-hole putting green. Keen golfers up for a challenge can take to one of the award-winning golf courses.

Of course many may just want to relax in this secluded setting and the Spa Room is the perfect place. Using the Elemis range, deep tissue massages, facials and manicures are among the treatments available, perfect to wash away the aches & stresses of everyday life.

Dining

The Cary Arms cooks up award-winning gastro pub meals served in a comfortable stone-walled setting or out on the terrace. The 'Captain's Table' is a great setting, a small terrace overlooking the bay, or the futuristic looking orb is a lovely spot to dine out among the garden blooms. The menu includes traditional English dishes with international influences and uses locally-sourced ingredients, a passion for Manillan chef, Denise Tarriela. There is also an outdoor BBQ and pizza oven for al fresco cooking.

Rates

Room rates at The Cary Arms are per room per night and include breakfast. There is a GBP 50 reduction for single occupancy. Cottage rates are per week and are self-catering rates, although breakfast is available to cottage guests at GBP 16.50 per person for a Full English and GBP 9 per person for a continental. Cottage rates include towels and linens, housekeeping and a welcome luxury Devon hamper. All cottages are dog friendly. 3 night and nightly rates are available on request. Nightly rates are not available over Christams and New Year and can only be booked within 2 weeks of arrival. Family accommodation is available and children are charged at GBP 35 per night. Dogs are welcome and will be charged at GBP 10 per night and a dog bed and bowl will be provided. Inter-connecting rooms are available. All rates include credit card charges and VAT. There is a minimum stay of 2 nights on Fridays and Saturdays. Credit card details are required to secure the booking.

Cancellation policy

If the booking is cancelled less than 21 days prior to arrival, the full amount will be charged if the room is not re-let. Cancellation within 48 hours of arrival will incur a charge of the full room rate.
