About this Chic Retreat
Surrounded by the very best of the Lake District, the Boathouse at Knotts End is a stylishly simple self-catering Chic Retreat with 200 feet of private lake and jetty. Once part of the Leeming Estate, it sits on Lake Ullswater in Cumbria, a 15 minute drive from the town of Penrith. This unique chic retreat is the ideal honeymoon hideaway and the perfect spot for a romantic getaway for two at any time of the year.
Backed by acres of deciduous woodland and overlooking a sweep of private lake, the Boathouse has been thoughtfully appointed for modern living and has been decorated in the style of a small boutique hotel. Slate and sturdy English oak abound, in keeping with the property's natural stone exterior, whilst slivers of flat screen technology (the sitting room has a great selection of DVDs and an iPod dock) bring the small boutique hotel's interiors bang up-to-date.
Accommodation
With just one double bedroom, the Boathouse at Knotts End was made for romantic weekends. It is light and airy, its queen size bed decked out in 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, feather pillows and duvets. Waffle cotton bathrobes and fluffy towels are provided too, of course, alongside covetable Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. The Boathouse at Knotts End's balcony offers sweeping views of the surrounding fells, the ideal setting for incurable romantics.
Activities
There's plenty to do here, especially for outdoorsy types. Choose from swimming and sailing in the lake, exploring Cumbria's many hiking trails and fishing. The Boathouse comes with its own rowing boat, and its sitting room is stocked with guidebooks and board games.
Dining
The Boathouse's kitchen comes complete with a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, hob and a combination microwave oven with grill; there's an outdoor barbeque for warmer months. Crockery, glassware and kitchen utensils are provided, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine. Guests can enjoy dining indoors or al fresco at a teak table on the terrace by the jetty, on the balcony or at the picnic table on the lake front. Teak loungers with comfortable bespoke cushions are located on the terrace where guests are invited to soak up the sun’s rays and the views over the lake.
Rates
Rates are per night (incl VAT) and include all amenities and maid service (1 visit for a 2-3 nights stay; 2 visits for a 5-7 night stay).
Christmas/New Year Dec 24, 25, 26 and Dec 30, 31, Jan 1 - £350/night
A minimum 2 night stay is required and 3 nights during Christmas and New Year. Strictly no smoking.

Cancellation policy
50% deposit due at the time of booking. Balance owing 60 days prior to the arrival date. If booking date is within 60 days of the arrival date, 100% payment is due at the time of booking.
- Cancellation more than 90 days from the arrival date, 100% refund of the deposit paid.
- Cancellation 60-90 days from the arrival date, 50% refund of the total amount owing.
- Cancellation less than 60 days from the arrival date, no refund.
