About this Chic Retreat
The Scarlet is an adult-only boutique hotel with a difference. Not content with providing a luxurious retreat for those visiting the Cornish coast, they have ensured that they are as eco-friendly as possible, from the materials used for construction down to the natural plants used to filter the outdoor swimming pool. The roof is insulated with sea thrift and blends with the coastal landscape, and every detail has been designed to be in harmony with the beautiful natural surroundings. With a restaurant using only the finest locally sourced ingredients, a spa using organic seaweeds & other natural treats & beautiful ocean views, guests can take a deep breath of the fresh sea air and truly relax.
Accommodation
The Scarlet has been designed to avoid the long corridors of conventional luxury hotels, instead creating pockets of rooms, curved around small gardens, terraces and viewing pods from which to watch the ocean views. All 37 rooms have king-size beds, large windows and their own private space outdoors from balconies to private courtyard terraces. Contemporary fixtures & furnishing have been thoughtfully selected; the curved garden furniture echos the frontage of the hotel and the light colour palette and wooden flooring inside blends well with the stylish materials & lighting. There are 5 room categories, Just Right, Generous, Unique, Spacious and Indulgent, which increase in size. All bathrooms have Tri Dosha toiletries, using an Ayurvedic blend of herbs, and baths and / or showers and Spacious rooms have freestanding tubs and the bedrooms have flatscreen TVs & DVD players.
Activities
If the fresh sea air and luxurious rooms aren't enough, a day in The Scarlet spa will blow away the last of those cobwebs. With an indoor swimming pool, aroma steam room and a relaxation room overlooking the naturally-filtered outdoor pool & sea, guests can sit back and relax or take a treatment in the Hammam, Rasul or couples suite which has a double bath. The deep relaxation space has hanging pods filled with cushions to drift off in after an Ayurvedic experience or mud treatment. There are also 2 outdoor log-fired seaweed baths/hot tubs for a romantic soak by the ocean.
Cornwall's famous coastline and cliffs are great for walks and hikes or just simply while away the day on the sandy beach.
Dining
With Michelin starred chef, Ben Tunnicliffe at the helm, the food at The Scarlet's restaurant is sure to please. The menu is led by the fresh local produce that is available and the simple & flavoursome menu therefore changes daily. Breakfast & lunch are informal and fun, while at dinner the menu & ambience is intimate and cosy. There is a good wine list served by the bottle or glass. A room service menu is available with deli dishes and an unmissable Cornish afternoon tea.
Rates
Rates at The Scarlet are per room per night and include a table d'hote breakfast and all taxes. A minimum stay of 2 nights applies at weekend. Prices over festive seasons. A deposit of 25% is required to confirm bookings. Chilren are not accepted.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations made 14 days or fewer before arrival will only be charged if the room is not relet. The charge is 75% of the total value of the booking and travel insurance is recommended to cover this eventuality.
