About this Chic Retreat
Situated with the grounds of a Charentaise Manor House, La Rose des Vents enjoys the micro climate of the Charente Maritime, the second sunniest region in France, and the two fully equipped luxury cottages are ideal for a long weekend, a week or mid week break throughout the year. Both luxury cottages have been sympathetically restored in keeping with the original features; wooden beams, stone walls, wood and terracotta floors and each enjoys bookcases filled to the brim with books, glossy magazines and board games to keep both adults and children amused. The private walled gardens each have a BBQ and garden furniture with outdoor candle lights allowing you to make the most of dining by day and by night under the expansive starry skies.
Accommodation
Beautifully furnished in a mix of English and French country style, the two cottages each sleep 6 people and are fully equipped with WIFI, satellite flat screen TV & DVD player; mini hi-fi system (CD library); washing machine and tumble dryer; dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave .....and the kitchens are equipped for the most passionate of cooks! The beds are made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and Provencal throws, and the charming bedrooms are well furnished with pine or painted wardrobes, dressing tables, bedside tables (with good reading lights). There are extra covers and duvets for the cooler months and electric fans to keep you cool in summer. Each bathroom and en-suite shower rooms are stocked with fluffy white towels, a hairdryer and pool towels. We love the Manor Cottage with its flower filled courtyard and a private gate leading into the orchard and heated swimming pool. Rose Cottage is the larger of the two with a spacious sitting room featuring doors opening onto a Wisteria covered terrace on one side, and another set opening onto the south facing private walled garden on the other. Stay for just 3 nights in one of the luxury cottages and enjoy all the facilities and privacy it offers with breakfast delivered to your cottage each morning; afternoon tea and cakes served on arrival; and on your first night a 4 course dinner with aperitifs, wine, coffee & cognac served in the Manor House, plus a complimentary tour of vineyards in 4 seater Morgan.
Activities
Resident owners Lyn & Graham are more than happy to suggest places to visit and will reserve restaurant tables, book tours of the Cognac Houses (Cognac is just 15 minutes away), river trips, rounds of golf and anything else that needs to be booked. Guests can enjoy the herbs, apples, pears, cherries, figs,apricots and plums growing in the gardens and orchard and there is a large grassed area for ball games, and badminton, swing ball and boules are available on site. Bring your own tennis racquet, as guests have access to the tennis courts in the commune, free of charge. On hotter days simply relax by the heated swimming pool.
Dining
No need to worry about going shopping on arrival at La Rose des Vents..afternoon tea and home made cakes are served to all guests on arrival. NEW! Guests staying, on a self catering basis, can now book an optional welcome aperitif and 4 course dinner with wine on their first night at a cost of just £30 per person - either to be served in their cottage, for a romantic meal (candles supplied!), no worries about baby sitting, they can put their little ones to bed- or for groups of adults dinner can be taken in the Manor House.
Rates
Rates at La Rose des Vents are either per week or per person for a 3 night stay. For the long weekend and midweek breaks additional nights B&B can be booked at an additional £75 per room.

Cancellation policy
Cancellation – please note that the initial booking deposit is non refundable. In addition cancellation charges will apply as follows: 50 – 36 days before the arrival date 50% rental value. 35 – 16 days before arrival 75% rental value. 15 or less days before arrival 100% of the rental. Notification of cancellation must be made in writing by recorded delivery. The Client is strongly recommended to arrange a comprehensive travel insurance policy (including cancellation cover) and to have full cover for the party’s personal belongings, public liability, etc, since these are not covered by the owner’s insurance.
