Villa Gella

Villa Gella is a stunning, newly renovated 6 bedroom villa (sleeping a minimum of 6 guests) situated in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria. With sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys Villa Gella and the little hamlet of Gela (birthplace of the legendary musician Orpheus) are surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty, steeped in history and culture.  Space, light and tremendous style are the predominant features of Villa Gella, add to this an indoor pool, gym, steam room, Yoga corner and resident chef and you won't want to stay anywhere else.

A dream for all seasons, Villa Gella has something for everyone all year round.  Enjoy a day's skiing at Pamporovo, Bulgaria's largest ski resort, during the winter months - it is only 25 minutes away!  Make the most of the lakes, canyons and nature reserves throughout the year and explore caves Devil’s Throat, Yagodinska Peshtera and Uhlovitza and traditional villages during the warmer months.  Horse riding, cycling, trekking, bird and animal watching are all on your doorstep and 4 of the 9 Bulgarian UNESCO heritage sites are within easy reach. On a beautiful day with the sun shining and a vast blue sky above, there is nothing better than relaxing on one of the chairs outside and admiring the surrounding mountains and scenery - an artist's dream.

A small, cozy library offers a quiet corner to read in and is where you can find the internet and TV. The spa floor has an indoor swimming pool, massage area and steam room, a Yoga corner and a small gym for those wanting to keep up with their fitness routine.   The terrace in front of the swimming pool (heated from solar panels) has chaise-longues made from reclaimed wood and can be used for sun-bathing in the summer.

Food glorious food! It is always such an important element in a holiday and at Villa Gella you won't be disappointed. The Rhodope region is home to ancient culinary traditions using produce from the local rivers, land and farmers, ensuring the freshest meat, game, fish, fruit and berries are used. The yoghurt and dairy produce, including the local cheese (branza) is from the grazing cows and sheep.  The resident chef creates authentic local dishes including patatnik (a mixture of potatoes, cheese and eggs baked on a hot stone) and lozovi sarmi (a mixture of rice and minced meat wrapped in pickled cabbage leaves and steamed) with ease and flair.  To complement the dishes there is a selection of the wines of Terra Tangra which is the the best new generation Bulgarian winery. The spacious living and dining room is at the heart of Villa Gella, a place to enjoy afternoon tea brewed from local medicinal herbs or a family game of Monopoly!

Next to the dining area, in an East facing alcove, there is another smaller dining area which seats five and is ideal for childrens meals. The Kitchen itself is a professionally equipped and the chef is available on request throughout your stay.
