The Amala - Bali, Indonesia

About this Chic Retreat

The Amala is a newly opened collection of luxury villas in Seminyak, the spa capital of Bali. With a sophisticated Asian style, the Amala villas have a distinct atmosphere of peace & tranquility; flowing white materials, wide open spaces, private pools and luxurious bedrooms provide a haven of calm perfect for a romantic getaway or simply a well-deserved pampering treat. The modern holistic spa offers treatments for the body and soul, from relaxing facials to meditation & pranayama so guests can wash away the last traces of every day life.

In keeping with the harmonious ethos of Amala, they take an eco-friendly approach using an environmentally sustainable pool filtration system, solar panels for electricity and recycling systems for watering the gardens, and locally-sourced natural materials have been used throughout such as Bandung marble. For those who can tear themselves away, the buzzing nightlife, cafes and shops of Seminyak are just a short walk from the villas as well as Seminyak's beautiful sandy beaches.

Accommodation

The Amala offers 6 one-bedroom spa villas, 5 one-bedroom pool villas and the 3-bedroom Amala Residence, each individually styled in a contemporary Asian style. Spa villas have a private plunge jet pool and bedrooms open out onto the private decking, all monochrome with large four-posters dressed in light white drapes from which the clear blue skies can be enjoyed. For a special spa treat, these villas have steam showers scented with a selection of herbs so guests can perk up with a mint shower in the morning and wind-down with calming lavender before bed, and as with all Amala's en-suites, there are luxurious hand-made soaps from a mixture of tropical ingredients. The design is clean and simple, straight lines, exclusive Jim Thompson materials and duvets made from organic silks & wool.

The pool villas have private 6x3 metre swimming pools leading out from the floor-to-ceiling glass bedroom doors. The clever use of space creates a feeling of wide open spaces while the high walls maintain privacy within and guests can sunbathe on their own private decks, atmospherically lit to create a warm evening glow once the sun has set. The pool villas have the addition of a kitchenette.

The Amala Residence is perfect for groups of friends or families with 3 bedrooms and a 9x4 metre swimming pool with a Bale bengong - a thatched daybed - by the water's edge. With a full kitchen and large living room and dining room, this is a real home-from-home, but of course while every villa has a 24-hour butler service, there is no need for anyone to lift a finger if they do not wish.

All villas have en-suite facilities, the Amala bathrooms include a Jacuzzi & bathtub, some villas have baths by the poolside, while others have spacious freestanding tubs indoors. In addition, the complimentary mini-bar is restocked with soft drinks daily as well as fresh fruit and homemade cookies, there are LCD TVs in the the living rooms and bedrooms, DVD players, iPod docking systems, complimentary WiFi and coffee & tea making facilities.
