About this Chic Retreat

Surrounded by large grounds with ancient trees, this small luxury hotel feels as if it belongs to a medieval fairy tale. In 1492 Schloss Prielau was built and before the Porsche family bought the castle it was the family castle of Hugo von Hofmannsthal, one of Austria's most popular writers and founder of the Salzburg Festival. This romantic castle has its own fishing grounds and a small baroque chape within the estate. Schloss Prielau is the perfect small hotel for those guests looking for relaxation, good food and activity - whether it be golf or fishing in the summer or riding and ski-ing in the winter.

Accommodation

Schloss Prielau has only 8 double rooms and 1 suite. This boutique hotel is an intimate, private place to stay filled with antiques, tiled ovens and wood panelling.

Activities

A private beach at the lake, just 200m away from this fairytale castle, is provided for hotel guests. A spa with sauna, steambath, caldarium, massage and beauty treatments was recently added. Summer and winter activities include golf, fishing, walking, riding, glacier ski-ing and sailing.

Dining

Schloss Prielau has 2 restaurants: the castle's own restaurant for Austrian specialities and home-baked cakes during the day time. In the evening the high art of dining is celebrated in the gourmet restaurant 'MAYER's' which has a Michelin star and which has been nominated as one of Austria's top ten restaurants. Andreas Mayer, chef de cuisine at the MAYER's, has cooked his way into the hearts of guests in a very short period of time.

Rates at Schloss Prielau are per night and include breakfast. Extra beds € 45,-- per day Pets excl. food EUR 10 per day. Children up to 6 years free in the room of the parents. Children up to 12 years EUR 32 in the room of the parents
