A few steps on is a fascinating example of period garden design: great stepped terraces with wisteria draped arches lead up to a grotto, a favourite spot for drinks and weddings. Fishing trips leave from Kawaha Point Lodge's jetty and for the ultimate cultural experience, your hosts can organise a private Maori concert performance on the lawns.
