The property, now known as Ibah, has been handed down through the centuries from generation to generation of the Ubud Royal Family and now belongs to Tjokorda Raka Kerthyasa, a descendent of the Ubud Royal Family.
Its ancient charm is enhanced by its sacred significance. Located on the banks of the Oos River where it meets the Campuhan River, Ibah was where an Indian holy man stopped to meditate and found the inspiration he needed to build the holiest of Bali’s Hindu temples, Besakih at the base of Mount Agung.
Today, Ibah remains a source of inspiration, tranquility and rejuvenation, not only for royalty and holy figures, but for travellers seeking luxury accommodation replete with old-world charm. There is something magical about the boutique hotel that belies its relative youth. Its 15 villas, built in 1995, are nestled amongst lush, natural gardens and structured around softly-lit palace-style walkways with stone arches and cobbled paths. This boutique hotel's attention to simple details encompasses the best of Balinese culture, from the myriad of ponds and flowing spring water to the scent of fresh-picked frangipanis that decorate every walkway and room. Activities

A refreshing infinity-edge terraced pool is concealed behind high stone walls, into which caves have been carved to create shady, tranquil sanctuaries, while massages, facials and traditional Indonesian therapies are available at the spa. The cuisine is inspired by the abundance of fresh produce from nearby farms.
