The ancient Palazzo Palmieri is an historial 16th-century building which stands near Ostuni's cathedral which was reconstructed in the second half of the 15th-century. The Palazzo has been restored and turned into a contemporary boutique hotel with just 9 suites. The magnificent vaulted ceilings at La Sommita were completely restored and brought back to their original splendour. Guests can enjoy beautiful views of ancient olive groves sloping down from the village to the sea. The local charm and the ambience still remain the same as ancient times.

Accommodation - 9 rooms

All of the 9 rooms and suites at this chic boutique hotel have king size beds and en-suite bathrooms. Some of the suites are on two levels with large bathrooms featuring stone showers. Some have balconies, other have large windows with stunning views across the town and countryside. Natural materials (wood, stone and marbles) have been used wherever possible to created a calm chic ambience.

Activities

The spa at La Sommita uses natural products and guests can also enjoy massages in their room. Beaches are just 10 minutes by car. Wine Tasting and Olive Tasting are easily arranged.

Dining

Two big stone vaults holding the sophisticated restaurant Il Profumo overlook a Spanish garden where orange and olive trees grow. Restored fireplaces and a wood-burning oven, where bread and cakes are baked, take you back to the ancient times when the quality of life lay in the simple pleasures. Guests can enjoy coffee, tea or a light snack in the relaxing area on the ground floor which is lit only by the light of candles. There are some lovely terraces where guests can read a book, sip a glass of prosecco or simply watch the sun set across the ocean.
