Villa Bordoni - Greve in Chianti - Italy
Great for: Kids, Honeymoon, Weddings, Golf, Pool, Shopping

Hotel Detail

Villa Bordoni was discovered by the Gardner family in the winter of 2002. David and Catherine Gardner, both Scottish-born, are the founders and owners of successful Florentine restaurants ‘Baldovino’ and ‘Beccofino’. For some years they had been searching for the ideal property to realise their ambition of opening a luxurious but unpretentious country house hotel in the Florentine Chianti.

When discovered, Villa Bordoni was in a dire condition and slowly decaying into the poetically beautiful landscape which surrounds it. Once the house, its Italian garden and its 6 hectares of olive groves and vines were lovingly restored they were able to open Villa Bordoni as a boutique hotel.

Accommodation - 10 Rooms

Villa Bordoni offers 3 suites, 1 cottage and 6 double bedrooms. Each room has its own nuances, some boast elegant four-poster beds with swathes of mediterranean-hued linens, others have mezzanine floors and stylish day beds. All are furnished with flair and originality, and above all else with great attention to detail. Unobtrusively installed in each room there is a mini-bar, satellite TV, DVD player and internet connection. The bathrooms are equally fetching and varied in colour and design. They all have antique hand-painted tiled floors from Vietri, the colours of which are echoed in the decoration of the rooms.

Activities

In the public areas of this popular boutique hotel, guests will be able to relax in the lounge and library on the first floor or curl up with a glass of Chianti in front of the open fire on a cooler spring or autumn evening. For the more energetic of the guests, there is a covered outdoor gym with state-of-the art exercise machines and there are also mountain bikes available for exploring the spectacular rolling Tuscan countryside surrounding us. For those wishing to go at a more leisurely pace, there are wonderful views to be enjoyed whilst lounging by the pool or when strolling around Villa Bordoni’s parkland.

Dining

The restaurant kitchen, which incorporates the Villa’s original wood burning oven, has been custom built in enamelled cast-iron in the famous workshops of Molteni of France. The bar and adjoining restaurant is overseen by the sommelier, who is on hand to accompany guests to the wine cellar (carved out of the rock underneath the villa) to select an appropriate wine or to help arrange a personal visit to a local wine producer.
