Bastide de Marie is a quaint countryside hotel set amid the scent of lavender, fertile vineyards and flourishing blooms of the Luberon National Park. Exposed brick work, large open fireplaces, elegant country-style furnishings and beautiful gardens make this a warm and inviting place for a rustic jaunt. A gourmet restaurant, in-house spa and many beautiful villages to explore close by, including the medieval Menerbes, are among the draws to this countryside gem.

Accommodation - 19 rooms

There are 14 rooms in the main building of Bastide de Marie, and 5 rooms in the villa. Rooms are decorated in a natural palette, grey sage, aubergine, anise green, rustic colours combine in an elegant country style with antique painted furnishings, exposed stone walls and timbers and large comfortable beds and armchairs, and each room has its own colour scheme. Rustic charm exudes from every detail in these spacious rooms and suites. Beds are queen size or twins and some are four-posters with luxurious canopies. All rooms come with ensuite bathrooms with bath or shower and Bastide de Marie's own range of toiletries, "Pure Altitude", fresh fruit and flowers, LCD TVs, WiFi and bathrobes. Some rooms have their own private terrace.

Activities

Bastide de Marie is surrounded by 24 hectares of vineyards and the area is rich with gardens, lemon and olive trees, lavender fields and herb gardens, a gorgeous place to go for long walks taking in the scents of Provence. Wine lovers will find the area rich in fine local wines. The Bastide de Marie spa has face and body treatments rooted in aromatherapy and uses the hotels Pure Altitude products made from a blend of mountain plants, and the outdoor swimming pool, converted from an ancient pond, is surrounded by cypress & olive trees and lavender, exuding relaxing aromas. The nearby Menerbes is a great place to explore. Medieval and renaissance buildings tell of the towns long past. A 17th-century wrought iron campanile tops the clocktower in the cobbled square and peeks over this hillside town which has awe-inspiring views of the surrounding countryside. There is a golf course close by for those who want to practice their swing.

Dining

Meals can be taken out on the garden terrace or in the dining room and consist of traditional Provencal dishes served alongside wines from the Domaine de Marie located right at the bastide. Staff are happy to recommend a suitable wine from their impressive list. Skate poached with lime stock or browned farm pork filet with alluchas beans are among some of the tasty dishes on the menu and ingredients are sourced from the local market.

Rates for 2010

Rates at Bastide de Marie are per room per night and include taxes. Half-board rates include breakfast, tea-time break and lunch or dinner with an aperitif, the house wine, mineral water & coffee. Reservations require a deposit of 50% of the total cost to confirm. A baby cot is charged at EUR 25. Pets cost EUR 15 per day not including food. Extra half board rates for under 7 year olds cost EUR 50, from 7 to 11 EUR 75 and for those over 11 years old EUR 180.

Cancellation Policy
Less than 21 days prior to arrival, the deposit will not be returned. Guests can subscribe to the cancellation contract if they wish. If the room is not resold when an early departure is made, the nights will be charged.
