La Petite Folie is not just a bed & breakfast, it is a beautifully and meticulously restored home full of antiques, Pierre Frey fabrics and Farrow & Ball colours. The owner Penny and her husband Thierry have been involved at every stage of design and decoration choosing every detail and piece of furniture, fabric and picture themselves. The main house dates back to 1830 and after the renovation opened at the end of 2006 as a small chic boutique hotel. The result is simply stunning. Next door in one of the oldest houses in Honfleur, built in the late XIV century and recently renovated to include 3 apartments. WIFI is available and there is an internet café within 50 metres of the house.

Accommodation - 7 Rooms

Four of the 7 rooms look onto the pretty and peaceful garden and the renovated folly (petite folie) which was once used as a bathhouse by its owners. The bedrooms are all located on the second and third floors and they all have a private en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath. There is no lift or room on the ground floor making access difficult for people with disabilities. The rooms are different colours and styles; Chez Rene is a mix of old & contemporary, La Chambre Bleue is a mix of 18th-century and modern, Le Kiosque is a smaller room which oozes charm and romance, La Chambre Mauve is a favourite for couples and La Directoire has 2 oversize twin beds (with the possibility of adding a 3rd). The 2 apartments are in the house next door which is one of the oldest houses in Honfleur. The house has just been renovated and there is a 3rd stunning new apartment now available. Included in each apartment; flat screen TV with cable (mostly French channels), Hi-Fi, refrigerator & microwave. L'Anis has been decorated in Kenzo materials and has a bedroom and a pullout sofa bed in the sitting room. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people. Le Bel Rouge has an open design and is on the 1st floor with the bedroom at the garden side of the house. There are curtains separating the bedroom and the main sitting areas and this apartment is perfect for a couple looking for privacy and romance. French breakfast can of course be delivered on request at the time of booking. Please note there is no elevator and if you have heavy bags, avoid rooms on top floors (Bleue, & Mauve) as well as the Apt Anis and the new apartment ‘Le Trois’. Children over the age of 10 are accepted in the Apartment Anis.

Activities

There are many reasons that make this part of Normandy so appealing; mild in the Winter, wonderfully warm in the Summer, miles of unspoilt beaches, value for money and the natural charm of the area and the people. Honfleur itself is fast becoming a trendy place to go. Nearby there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts and there is even a beach within walking distance.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and cider itineraries and tastings can be arranged! Normandy is home to Calvados, Camembert and Pont L'Eveque with an impressive selection of fish and sea food on its door step.

Dining

Honfleur, home to three Michelin rated restaurants, means that La Petite Folie within easy walking distance to them all including the outstanding SA-QUA-NA one of the best restaurants in the area, guests won't be short of choice!

The nearest airport is Dinard or Deauville. The distance from the airport is 2 hours or 20 minutes.

Arrivals are between 4-7pm, no arrivals are accepted after 10pm. For early birds clients can drop their bags off in the morning and return later to check in. however we have 500 spaces free less than 120 meters from the house on the Blvd Charles V next to the lighthouse on the street behind the house. By plane : Aéroport de Deauville Saint-Gatien 10 km from the house By ferry : LD Lines ferry sail from Portsmouth to Le Havre - 11 km from Honfleur. Brittany Ferries sail from Portsmouth to Caen (45 minutes from Honfleur via A13. There is a Brittany Ferries fast-cat sailing from both Portsmouth and Poole. Various other ferries sail from ports in the UK to France - e.g. Newhaven to Dieppe 1hour 20 mins from Honfleur. LD Lines - Le Havre- New Haven and Le Havre- Portsmouth. Please note there is no parking directly at the hotel but there is parking nearby in the town.
