Winvian was designed and created by 15 architects who have created a gorgeous collection of individual cottages amidst 113 acres. Located in the Litchfield Hills, Conneticut, this luxury hotel, a member of Orchid Resorts & Escapes, is surrounded by stunning scenery with lakes and woods. A stay at Winvian leaves guests rested, inspired, pampered and recharged.

Accommodation - 19 rooms

No two cottages are the same at Winvian. Designed and created by no less than 15 architects these 18 cottages are all totally unique in style and theme. Some are traditional, other quirky and whimsical but all share the same high standards expected at only the best luxury hotel. Camping Cottage (designed by John Martin) has got to be one of our favourites and a way of enjoying nature close up and at its finest. This cottage has large floor to ceiling windows allowing the outdoors to become very much part of the whole experience. There is even an outdoor fireplace on the porch and there is disabled access. Golf Cottage (designed by David Sellers) is ideal for the keen golfer with its own putting green just outside. It enjoys pretty views across the meadows to to the south.

For those looking for something extraordinary book the Helicopter Cottage (designed by Malcolm Appleton). A fully restored Sikorsky HH37 helicopter is the essence of this cottage and the interiors of the helicopter play host to the entertainment centre and bar. Think of it as your own private and luxurious hangar decorated in a cool contemporary style. Other cabins include treehouses, sunken tubs and stone waterfalls. The Hadley Suite is perfect for those looking for a combination of luxury, privacy & space; located on the 2nd floor of the Seth Bird House, it has 3 rooms which have been furnished with many antiques and some of the family's original belongings. The suite includes a lovely living room with open fire, library and large bedroom with a four-poster bed. The luxurious bathroom overlooks the southern gardens.

Activities

Hidden away in the north west corner of Conneticut Winvian enjoys one of the best locations within 2 hours of New York and Boston. The White Memorial Foundation with 4000 acres is accessed directly from the grounds of Winvian providing hiking, biking, horse riding and cross-country ski-ing. Yoga and Pilates can be arranged and there is a fitness area for those who want to continue their regime. In the evenings the games room comes to life featuring a pool table, shuffleboard, darts and table football.

There are many glorious walks to be enjoyed and Autumn is a particularly pretty time to come. The roses come alive in Spring with the magnificent aroma following you wherever you go. Winvian is a dream for all seasons. Off site, but nearby there is golf, tennis, fly fishing, clay pigeon shooting and many more besides.
Winvian Spa is exclusive to guests and is very personal experience. The product ranges used are some of our favouries; Eve Lom - one of London's leading therapists and Ren a range that uses no synthetic ingredients. There are 6 treatment rooms some of which have their own open fire guaranteeing total relaxation and the utmost pampering experience.

Dining

Chris Eddy, the talented chef, prides himself on cooking fresh and spontaneous dishes using local and organic ingredients whenever possible. No guest, not even the most demanding, has ever left the table hungry or dissatisfied.

Rates for 2010

Rates at Winvian are per cottage per night based on double occupancy and include all meals, picnics, snacs, afternoon tea, cocktails dinner and all drinks. Rates do not include 23% sales and room tax. Tipping is unnecessary and NOT expected.
