Cartagena is the setting for the film of GarcÍa Márquez’s novel 'Love in the Time of Cholera' directed by Mike Newell. The seductive setting of this romantic tale is sure to reawaken interest in this lovely walled city. This magnificent house dates from the 19th-century. Originally a traditional Spanish Colonial building it has been transformed into a boutique hotel with 20th-century Republican style. It has taken 2 years of careful and meticulous restoration and the result is a harmonious blend of antiques with modern comforts. Wherever possible the original features, including murals doors and wall trims, have been kept and restored using the skills of local artesans. La Passion Hotel is more than just a name, it is a concept that has been used throughout the house to ensure that every little detail has been planned and thought about with passion.

The 8 rooms at this small boutique hotel are very stylish and spacious with high ceilings and splashes of traditional colours. Some of the floors still have the original tiles in place and local rugs are dotted around. The decoration is simple but effective. Many of the rooms (most) have balconies, all have plasma TVs and there is WIFI throughout this small chic hotel.
