Angsana Riad Si Said is the most opulent of the Angsana boutique hotel group's new collection of riads. Spanning 3 authentic Moroccan houses that date back to the 1880s, its palette of off-white shot through with gold detailing and intricate zellig (traditional mosaic tile-work typical of Marrakech), Riad Si Said has the air of a palace fit for a pasha. Proportions are generous for a Marrakech riad, the pool is larger than the standard plunge pool and tall original wooden windows flood the rooms with light. Service is as sharp as any large luxury five star hotel as this small chic riad has its own host or butler dedicated to the guests' every need. The medieval charms of Marrakech's medina are on the doorstep and Place Jemaa El Fna is a mere 5 minutes away, but with surroundings this stunning, it will be hard to tear yourself away.

Riad Si Said has only 7 rooms and suites, giving it an intimate and exclusive atmosphere. All have large bathrooms with wet and dry areas which is a rarity in Marrakech and each is stocked with Angsana's excellent signature shampoos and shower gels. The two-bedroom Africaine Suite is perhaps the most spectacular room in the entire Angsana luxury riad collection thanks to its original, painted ceiling, topped by a skylight, its decadent four-poster bed and the fact that it adjoins the Bahia Suite which makes it a perfect option for a young family.

Activities

The roof terrace is the guests' favourite haunt in Riad Si Said thanks to its Jacuzzi, cascading waterfall, breakfast pavilions and sun-loungers. Guests can wind down in the patio pool or the hammam and book Thai or Moroccan massages in the treatment room before venturing out into Marrakech's magical medina armed with suggestions of restaurants and shops from the Riad Si Said's dedicated butler.

Dining

The 3 salons off Riad Si Said's central courtyard are stunningly decorated and furnished with open fires so romantic meals are possible year-round. As a nod to the Angsana hotel group's Asian origins, the menu is split between Thai and Moroccan dishes and if guests have already tried them all, there's always the option of dining at luxury riad Riad Bab Firdaus round the corner which has an extended menu.

Rates for 2010

Minimum stay 3 nights and 5 nights during Christmas and New Year. Rates are subject to 10% service charge and 10% government tax. Rates are per room per night include breakfast. Extra beds where permitted are an additional cost of Euros 75 plus 10% service charge and 10% tax per night. Child Policy: Infant (below the age of 2) utilizing a cot will be provided free of charge. Child between 2-11 years of age sharing a room with parents and using existing bedding will stay free of charge. Additional children sharing a room or suite with parents (if capacity allows) will be charged at the extra person rate.

Check-in and Check-out times : from 1400 hrs and before 1100 hrs respectively (Late checkout will be accorded to guests at the discretion of the hotel and where available. However late checkout can be booked in advance until 6pm at 50% of the nightly room rate. . After this time a full night’s room rate applies. If late checkout is requested directly by the guest while on property rack rates apply).
