About Chic Retreats

Chic Retreats was founded in 2002 by Lulu Townsend and is now recognised as the most trustworthy source for genuinely small boutique hotels.  Most of the properties featured on Chic Retreats are privately owned and all are personally selected to ensure charming service & attention to detail. For the second year in a row Chic Retreats makes the Times top 20 travel websites 2008.

CHIC RETREATS
Travel Intelligence's little sister.

CHIC RETREATS was founded in 2002 by Lulu Townsend. Whilst working in Sports Sponsorship & Marketing, Lulu qualified as a Reflexologist and Tennis Coach in the early 90’s. She then caught the hotel bug when her parents opened their small boutique hotel Palazzo Terranova, in 1999 (which they sold in 2006).

Inspired by working for the hotel from 2000-2002, she started Chic Retreats with just 17 hotels. The collection now encompasses 50 countries and over 300 privately owned hotels. Unlike other collections all the hotels invited to join have less than 30 rooms.

Lulu believes that quality doesn't always have to mean 5 stars & high prices; each property is carefully chosen by her to exemplify warmth, character & personal service and most are privately owned.

Chic Retreats membership includes the stunning book which is published every year and is available online from the 15th July. Chic Retreats membership entitles all members to preferential rates and benefits at the Chic Retreats hotels.
